Financial Controller

BDO Romania is recruiting a Financial Controller for a multinational company from Galati, operating in the steel industry. The Financial Controller reports to the mother company and works closely with the local GM.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Cash flow management - ensures sufficient cash in order to meet business needs
• Operational control – monitors proposed sales and purchases. Ensures the retrieval of required authorizations when profitability thresholds are not met
• Accounts receivable management - ensures that A/R are collected promptly and oversees the dunning process
• Credit insurance management - ensures that all the conditions regarding the company’s credit insurance policy are met
• Accounts payable management - ensures that A/P are paid in a timely manner and that the company benefits from all the reasonable discounts offered by suppliers
• Cost rationalization – reviews main operational costs and expenses (incl. travel expenses) and proposes solutions  for rationalizing them
• Operational monitoring  – follows up on achievement of selected goals and meeting of covenants
• Financial controlling – ensures the quality of accounting and financial reporting
• Tax, regulatory and legal compliance – ensures proper filing of tax returns, renewal of permits, and compliance with laws and regulations
• Risk management – ensures that main hazards and operational risks are identified and addressed
• Control environment – promotes a culture, policies, and procedures of internal control
